The HVAC Chiller Mechanic at Johnson Controls Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Data Center market by executing startup, commissioning, and aftermarket services for HVAC chiller systems. This position requires extensive experience with air-cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, as well as the ability to provide top-notch customer service while troubleshooting and resolving facility inefficiencies. Candidates must be willing to join a local Union, travel for up to 60% of their time in North America, and prioritize safety and career development.

We are looking for skilled HVAC Technicians who have experience with air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers or large roof top ducted units to support the growing data center market.  We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for 

Required  

  • Be a vital member of a new North America Data Center team responsible for startup, commissioning, and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.
  • Must be a member or willing to join a local Union.  
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical working experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers or large roof top ducted units with strong HVAC/ mechanical troubleshooting experience. 
  • Travel 50% to 60% within North America to support Data Center Customers startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service trouble shooting.
  • You may be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies. 
  • Willing to invest in career development.  You will enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products supporting the Data Center Market.
  • You will work with local market technicians and when necessary, provide on the job training.
  • Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.  
  • Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.  
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.  
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, good driving record and valid driver's license.
