As an Experienced RN in the Hematology Oncology Unit at Cleveland Clinic, you will provide direct nursing care to adult patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, while collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. This role involves implementing care plans, monitoring patient conditions, and coordinating discharge needs, all within a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere. Minimum qualifications include an accredited nursing degree, state licensure as an RN, and BLS certification, with a preference for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The G70 Hematology and Oncology Unit focuses on the diagnoses and treatment of various malignancies and hematologic diseases, from new diagnosis to the end of life. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients receiving chemotherapy, targeted cancer therapies, radioactive iodine and other types of radiation therapies. G70 has a positive, team- oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Within six months of starting on this unit, nurses can become “chemo-competent” and become experts at administering chemotherapy and understanding chemotherapy reactions.  


A caregiver in this position works Day/Night Rotation, from 7:00am--7:30pm.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care.  

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.  

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).  

  • External applicants: two years of recent nursing experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience .   


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
