Company Overview

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability.

Job Summary

To accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records and accounts. Maintain patient flow. Provide positive patient relations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents
  • Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards
  • Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
  • Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports
  • Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office setting
  • Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and universal precaution concepts
  • Graduated from, enrolled, in, or interested in pursuing healthcare training preferred
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software as our clinic is mostly electronic with minimal paper use.
  • Warm, friendly attitude with excellent patient interaction skills
  • Team player, excellent verbal and communication skills, adaptable in different situations, possesses excellent client interaction skills, able to multi-task and work independently
  • Well-groomed appearance.
  • Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
