Job Summary:

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying patient information and collecting copayments
  • Schedule appointments and confirm next-day appointments
  • Verify patient insurance and secure pre-authorizations
  • Enter patient charges into our Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management System (EMR)
  • Monitor administrative and clinical inboxes in EMR and respond to requests for medication refills, appointments, and testing follow-up
  • Provide follow-up to unresolved patient questions and ensure continuity of care

Requirements:

  • Minimum one year of front desk experience in a physician practice or outpatient ambulatory care setting
  • Computer and EMR experience required
  • Knowledge of medical insurance, medical terminology, and medical office services and routines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cardiovascular practice experience
  • Two to four years of experience in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree preferred

License and Credentials:

  • Certified Medical Assistant a plus

Skills:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of EMR systems (Athena preferred)
  • Ability to maintain accurate patient records and produce reports as requested
