Job Summary:
Deborah Heart and Lung Center is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying patient information and collecting copayments
- Schedule appointments and confirm next-day appointments
- Verify patient insurance and secure pre-authorizations
- Enter patient charges into our Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management System (EMR)
- Monitor administrative and clinical inboxes in EMR and respond to requests for medication refills, appointments, and testing follow-up
- Provide follow-up to unresolved patient questions and ensure continuity of care
Requirements:
- Minimum one year of front desk experience in a physician practice or outpatient ambulatory care setting
- Computer and EMR experience required
- Knowledge of medical insurance, medical terminology, and medical office services and routines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cardiovascular practice experience
- Two to four years of experience in a customer service-oriented environment
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree preferred
License and Credentials:
- Certified Medical Assistant a plus
Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of EMR systems (Athena preferred)
- Ability to maintain accurate patient records and produce reports as requested
