Job Description
The Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor or osteopathic doctor that works as part of the Ophthalmology department. The Ophthalmologist will provide specialized ophthalmic expertise within the multi-disciplinary team with the primary role of, evaluating patients for ocular conditions that may be attributable to military service. The ophthalmologist must be able to properly evaluate conditions and clearly provide written evaluation notes via required forms.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical degree in Ophthalmology and licensed to practice Ophthalmology in the US, home country or country of practice. Licensed optometrist
- Successful completion of internship and residency in ophthalmology.
- Experience with adult patients.
- Expert working knowledge of the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye.
- Ability to provide follow-up care for patients as needed
- Excellent IT skills including use of electronic medical records systems
- Excellent communication skill
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Strong organizational communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Results oriented and able to meet project deliverables.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness with the willingness to work with a foreign national patient population

Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide routine care such as vision testing and evaluation of visual conditions.
- Provide ophthalmic consultation to other medical doctors.
- Refer patients for more specialized evaluation if required for proper evaluation.
- Diagnose ocular diseases and injuries.
- Liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care
- Educate patients about eye condition and treatment plan.
- Ensures that all medical records are correct and maintained
- Provision of clinical reporting into Project Medical Director
- Support clinical mentoring for staff development
- Ensure best practice in line with clinical guidelines and SOPs
- Support the clinical excellence framework under direction from the Project Medical Director
- Provide liaison with external agencies where required to maintain continuity of care and professional referral/patient handover.
Governance
Comply with health & safety standards consistent with the requirement to follow such procedures and regulations as may be laid down by the company, its client or the host state including:
- Prohibition of the abuse of alcohol and narcotics or intoxicating substances
- Fire response drills
- Personal and Catering hygiene
- Absolute familiarity with and compliance with company policies and such procedures that are pertinent to the role and to good clinical care, including but not limited to:
- Consent, confidentiality, and appropriate handling of healthcare records in adherence to HIPAA/patient confidentiality laws. Clinical staff must ensure that they understand their professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities.
- Maintaining and improving clinical quality through audit and quality improvement activity.
- Safe and appropriate use of medication.
- Clinical governance. Clinicians should understand their role in the organization's clinical governance program.
Compliance with rules requiring personnel to reject bribery and corruption laid down by the company, its client, host state or international laws including the principles of: Rejection of the offer of or acceptance of any favor or any financial or material inducement intended to influence a business decision or official action.

Compensation: Base rate is $200 per day+ additional money per exam $574(10 patients) $761(15 patients)
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
