The OSU STAR TRC (Trauma Recovery Center) focuses on the treatment of trauma for those patients who have been identified as survivors of crime. The OSU STAR TRC outreach coordinator will manage the interface between the Trauma Recovery Center patients and community-based programming. This position will focus on building relationships between communities, community-based programs and the Trauma Recovery Center. Activities include but are not limited to, participation in community based events such as, African American Male Wellness Walk, neighborhood outreach events at recreational center, parks, churches. Successful candidates must be willing to work a nontraditional schedule with some evenings and weekends and must be willing to attend community events as the sole representative of our program.Successful candidates will demonstrate skills in speaking to community members one on one and in group settings.This role serves as the public face of our program and often the first point of contact for many potential patients.Applicants must be comfortable in settings outside of the office with diverse populations.

Additionally, this position will offer victim advocacy services for patients accessing care at the TRC who require additional support navigating the legal system. Duties include but are not limited to, attending court hearings with patients in Franklin County as well as contiguous counties.Assisting patients in applying for protection orders, writing impact statements, preparing for court testimony and facilitating communication between survivors and law enforcement.

The outreach coordinator will collaborate with the Program Director and Program manager to develop, implement and evaluate outreach solutions that support access to expert clinical care, research studies and clinician education. Assertive outreach is an essential component of the Trauma Recovery Center model. While assertive outreach does require clinical skill, time and careful consideration of patient and staff safety, it addresses the needs of patients who face multiple barriers to accessing trauma recovery services. Assertive outreach goes beyond initial engagement helping retain clients in services and ensuring linkage to services.

Bachelors degree in related field with 2 years of experience in customer service or volunteer coordination. Graduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. .LSW preferred but not required. Ohio Victim Advocacy Certification preferred but not required.
