Job Overview:
The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating employment for individuals with barriers to work. This position involves direct interaction with clients to assess their skills, provide job readiness training, and support their journey toward gaining and retaining meaningful employment. We are looking for a motivated and empathetic individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement: Conduct assessments to determine clients' strengths, weaknesses, and employment goals, and create personalized action plans.
- Job Readiness Preparation: Offer training on resume writing, interview techniques, and workplace behavior to ensure clients are well-prepared for job opportunities.
- Employment Placement Support: Help clients identify and apply for job openings that align with their skills and interests, including advocating for them during the hiring process.
- Workplace Integration and Coaching: Provide ongoing support to clients after placement, assisting with on-the-job training, communication with employers, and addressing any workplace challenges.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track client progress and employment outcomes, preparing reports to evaluate success and improve services.
- Collaborative Networking: Build relationships with employers and community resources to create job opportunities and support networks for clients.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated on best practices in employment services for individuals with disabilities and engage in ongoing training.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local job market trends and resources, employment practices, and disability rights.
- Demonstrate a compassionate and supportive approach to client interactions.
- Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as travel may be required.
