Job Description

GCI's Marketing Specialist I will participate and support the Marketing Team promoting GCI products and services. Promote a positive relationship assisting with general product and promotional information. Manage internal and external relationships to carefully take each project to market with success from conception to completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:
Essential duties and responsibilities are assigned per the addendum(s) if specific focus area.

Product Marketing

Focus of position:

The role requires a strategic thinker who helps develop consumer products and promotions to drive growth and opportunities. A high level of attention to detail and organization is a must in the fast-paced marketing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Proactively keep abreast of competitor marketing, product offerings, promotions, and industry trends
  • Collect and organize data to inform marketing campaigns and product development.
  • Leverage project management software to document product launches, campaigns, promotions, and deliverables, adapting timelines as needed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Development of strategic plan deliverables including some or all the following:
  • Online research
  • Data analysis
  • Objective planning
  • Formal presentations
  • Aid in developing campaign briefs and communicating strategic objectives to internal team members to ensure projects are completed in alignment with strategy.
  • Report on key metrics, analyzing and interpreting trends and providing actionable insights based on available analytics data.
  • Develop unique strategies and build upon current strategies to meet/exceed objectives.
  • Perform ROI analysis to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of different marketing campaigns.
  • Establish consistent communication with sales to gather feedback, deliver updates and ensure our sales teams have the tools they need.

    • The ability to create urgency with outside vendors when timelines are critical and have the acumen to develop the critical path to project completion.
    • Ability to multitask, be flexible to work across multiple points of contact within a global organization, take the lead on scheduling meetings and project kickoffs.
    • Must be detail-oriented and can work proactively and effectively with multiple priorities under minimal supervision.
    • Capable of handling multiple projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion.
    • Experience in marketing project coordination.

  • Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to complete job duties effectively, such as using the company intranet and to accurately retrieve and input information into database or equivalent.
  • Experience in marketing project coordination.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks working in a team or independently toward a common goal.
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well across the organization.
Level Definition

Position Title: Marketing Specialist I

Grade: A07

Additional Job Requirements:

This is an entry level position within the marketing specialist team. Works under close supervision conducting work assignments as directed. Must have a basic knowledge of marketing initiatives, the company's product line and sales programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a customer service, office administrative, or marketing environment. *
Preferred:
  • Experience within a telecommunications customer product line environment.
  • Associate degree in relevant field.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • Experience with marketing automation and project management tools.
  • Experience with content publishing through online portals, such as WordPress.
  • Other relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.
Required at ALL Levels
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations throughout Southcentral Alaska.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Work entails long periods of time in front of a computer screen and on video calls.
  • Work entails the ability to maneuver up to 20 pounds.
  • Work entails dealing with upset customers and/or employees at times.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.
