Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Electrical Designer with advanced expertise in AutoCAD, wiring design, and physical layout for industrial and utility applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing panels, substation systems, and power generation facilities. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality electrical designs that meet industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for industrial facilities, substations, and power generation stations.

  • Create wiring schematics and physical layouts for high-voltage and low-voltage systems.

  • Develop control panels, motor control centers (MCCs), and switchgear designs.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet industry standards.

  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical for detailed electrical design work.

  • Ensure designs comply with electrical standards and codes, including NEC, IEEE, and utility-specific guidelines.

  • Integrate relay and protection systems, SCADA, and PLC wiring into designs.

  • Provide technical support and expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 8-10 years of experience in electrical design for industrial facilities, substations, or power generation stations.

  • Proven expertise in designing control panels, MCCs, and switchgear.

  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Strong understanding of industrial power systems, including grounding, conduit routing, and cable tray design.

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus.

  • Experience with additional CAD tools like Revit or SolidWorks.

  • Familiarity with relay and protection systems, SCADA integration, and PLC wiring.

Work Environment

The position offers potential for a hybrid onsite/remote work arrangement. During the contract portion, there are 6 paid holidays and the ability to accrue PTO for both vacation and sick time. The company hosts many employee incentive events, charities, and parties throughout the year that contractors can attend alongside full-time employees. The work environment is located in a mid-rise corporate building in the manufacturing section of Glastonbury, close to high-end shopping and dining.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00
