Job Description: Maintenance Technician
Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various handyman tasks and ensuring that equipment is maintained in an energy-efficient and safe manner. This role includes conducting inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on facility mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other installed systems. The Maintenance Technician must possess a strong focus on operating, maintaining, and repairing facility equipment across multiple craft areas. This is a site-based role that requires compliance with safety procedures and vaccination requirements specified by the client.
Essential Functions:
Maintenance:
Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
Maintain and operate HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior, and related grounds, as well as production equipment.
Familiarize oneself with various equipment and methods required for everyday activities, including building automation systems and fire/life safety systems.
Perform assigned facility inspections and report on conditions that may impact client occupancy and operations.
Safety:
Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
Comply with safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and identify and propose methods to eliminate safety hazards.
Adhere to state, county, or city ordinances, codes, and laws related to safety.
Complete all required safety trainings as scheduled.
Administrative:
Submit P-card receipts daily.
Update work order status in real-time and utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed.
Escalate problems or issues to the customer and manager in a timely manner.
Attend work and safety meetings as required.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building maintenance, with a strong background in equipment repair and maintenance.
Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or other craft skills preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
Universal CFC recovery certification preferred (or within 90 days of employment).
Third-party certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel (preferred).
Physical Work Requirements/Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
Work at heights and climb, bend, lift, kneel, stoop, and work overhead frequently.
Work in adverse conditions, such as extreme cold or heat.
Drive for long periods of time.
Climb ladders with weight limits and heights up to 30 feet.
Travel within 100 miles to Schneider Electric facilities as directed by the manager.
On-Call:
Must be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.
