Case Manager

The Case Manager for Student Conduct serves an important cross-functional role at The Washington Center (TWC) in addressing internship site issues and concerns for participants in the Academic Internship Program (AIP). In collaboration with teams across the organization, the Case Manager will provide a non-clinical case management service to address complex issues related to issues at the internship site and in academic courses. This position will work with both internal and external stakeholders. TWC is a majority remote organization: for most employees. However, this position will require the candidate to be located in the DMV area and on-site more than 25% of the time. This is a part-time position (20-25 hours per week).
Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
JOB FUNCTION
Case Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for all cases involving internship site issues and academic concerns for participants in the Academic Internship Program.
- Respond to all allegations of conduct or concern, inclusive of review of reports received, any investigation/discovery, documentation, and implementation of conduct processes, as applicable.
- Conduct initial intake meetings and discovery, meeting with interns, faculty, and employers
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, or other similar responsibilities; ensure students and other stakeholders are aware of rights, responsibilities and processes
- Ensure timely management and resolution of referred cases
- Maintain confidentiality of information related to student conduct concerns and exercises discretion to provide timely information and necessary updates across relevant stakeholders.
- When necessary, mediate internship site issues between interns and sites/site supervisors. Assist in finding resolution for both parties.
- Serve as a decision maker in instances of dismissal from internship, determining support for replacement
- Serve as a hearing officer for cases of internship site issues, academic misconduct, or other cases, as assigned
- Make determination on case outcomes when formal adjudication is determined to be necessary
- Serve as a member of conduct hearing boards, where applicable
- Establish, maintain, and process detailed records for adjudicated cases and other communications timely and accurately.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure timely outcomes of student cases and adjudication of cases
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1+ years of experience in student conduct, community standards, case management, residence life/housing, employer relations, or student services
- Prior experience working in student conduct and/or case management higher education and nonprofit environments
- Prior experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and/or conducting interviews
- Prior experience in Salesforce, StarRez or other conduct management systems or CRMs
