Job Description

As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing safe and efficient fire sprinkler systems. You will be responsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, and residential applications, and completing project designs and submittals.

Job Duties

  • Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors.

  • Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.

  • Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production.

  • Design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.

  • Review work orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.

  • Prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.

  • Prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendors and requisition materials for the job.

  • Perform field surveys to ensure the design is appropriate for structure.

  • Assist field personnel with design-related installation issues.

  • Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.

Skills/Qualifications

  • NICET Water-Based Systems Layout Certification II or III preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoSPRINK

Work Environment

The position is for a laid-back and casual family-owned firm. Core hours for this position are 8 am-5 pm EST with flexibility as needed. This is a heavy design production role with fully remote flexibility depending on experience.
