Palliative Care Medical Director Job Description

The Palliative Care Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the clinical care and treatment of patients receiving hospice services. This includes ensuring quality standards of care, providing medical expertise on pain and symptom management, and educating practicing physicians and healthcare professionals on the benefits of palliative care. The role also involves supervising team physicians, participating in management and community relations, and contributing to education and research initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Board certification in a medical specialty dealing with care of the terminally ill, such as Internal Medicine, Oncology, or Family Practice
  • Experience and expertise in palliative medicine and symptom management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Location: The Palliative Care Medical Director will be based at the hospice program's location. Remote work options may be available.
