Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policies
  • Present New Hire Orientation benefits overview to all H&K Group partners and divisions
  • Format and audit weekly payroll file of deduction changes
  • Prepare and submit deduction invoices
  • Monitor and keep records for short-term and long-term disability
  • Prepare and distribute survivor benefit, Life, and 401(k) claim letters
  • Prepare, review, and submit carrier invoices to AP and AR
  • Audit employee benefits deduction and coverage
  • Communicate with employees through phone and email on benefits issues
  • Complete employment and benefit verification letters and forms
  • Troubleshoot technical and data issues with Benefits Express
  • Coordinate employee claim review with insurance carriers and broker
  • Facilitate Open Enrollment with vendor, HR, and corporate communications
  • Format and submit Open Enrollment Deduction File
  • Audit and submit invoices for background check vendor
  • Cover front desk as needed for breaks or vacations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR two years of related experience and/or training
    • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Problem solving and priority setting skills
  • Composure and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient internet, HRIS, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) skills
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Three years of relevant experience
    • Strong preference for focus on benefits administration
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or other relevant HR certifications
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certificates
  • Relevant HR experience within heavy civil and highway construction, heavy industry/manufacturing, or mining
