Nature of Work:

This position performs duties associated with selling inks/coatings, prospecting new accounts, and developing existing customer accounts. This includes traveling to visit accounts and prospects, value added selling, and gathering/documenting competitive intelligence. The Technical Sales Representative will focus on building customer and prospect rapport through skilled communication and follow-up, networking, and trade shows. The Technical Sales Representative will focus on sales of corrugated, flexible packaging, rod coating and narrow web label inks. The Technical Sales Representative must have a strong technical acumen and a demonstrated ability to solve printing related issues. Most technical support including color matches, toning, press-side support, etc., will be the responsibility of the Technical Sales Representative.

Examples of Work:
  • Prospects for new business.
  • Support existing customers in the respective territory.
  • Sets appointments and calls on customers at the decision-maker level; Senior Buyer, Buyer, Assistant Buyer and purchasing manager level.
  • Thorough understanding of the industry dynamics.
  • Support trialing and qualification of Magnum Inks and Coatings products.
  • Sells within a competitive environment.
  • Travels to visit customers and prospects on a regular basis (60-80% of time on average).
  • Attends industry trade shows and selected market buyer/seller collaborative events as needed.
  • Provides quotes to prospects and customers as needed within our acceptable profit parameters.
  • Performs administrative functions for existing customers when necessary.
  • Documents customer and prospect contacts on a weekly basis within provided automation programs.
  • Manages, grows, and projects sales dollars within market responsibility.
  • Maintains current with technology, market trends, product needs and development.
  • Identifies, qualifies and follows up on leads in a timely manner.
  • Gathers voice of customer data to support new product development and product improvement.
  • Communicates Sales activity/forecasting on a monthly basis with management/production.
  • Qualify customer/prospects needs and provides solutions consistent with Magnum Inks and Coatings production capabilities.
  • Effectively and persuasively communicates Magnum Inks and Coatings value proposition
  • Builds trust and rapport with prospects and customers through delivering upon commitments with a sense of urgency
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience selling and supporting flexographic inks and coatings.
  • Experience selling to the print, ink, coating, films or packaging industry.
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Experience identifying and resolving printing issues that may be associated with inks and coatings.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills; ability to establish and maintain rapport with customer.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other related CRM software is preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, both internal and external.
  • Self-motivated; ability to make required number of prospect contacts each day, maintain communication and execute tasks while traveling.
  • Strong problem solving skills; selling value added products and services in a competitive environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Solid time management skills that allow the individual to schedule their time to meet new business growth objectives.
  • Experience using structured selling systems.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, mobile connectivity)
  • Proven success selling products in a highly competitive environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel overnight frequently.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a successful selling role working in inks and coatings industry or similar field preferred.
