Position Overview:
The Director of Technology is responsible for providing visionary leadership in the development, implementation, and management of technology systems, resources, and infrastructure that enhance educational outcomes across all schools in the district. The Director of Technology will oversee the integration of instructional technology, digital resources, and district-wide administrative systems to ensure a seamless and effective technological environment for students, teachers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership
• Develop and implement a comprehensive district-wide technology plan aligned with educational goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with district leaders, principals, and educators to identify technology needs and opportunities for enhancing teaching and learning.
• Stay informed of emerging trends in educational technology, data security, and information systems to ensure the district remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Lead the development and enforcement of technology policies, procedures, and best practices for the district.

2. Instructional Technology Integration
• Support teachers and instructional staff in effectively integrating technology into the curriculum to improve student learning outcomes.
• Coordinate the selection, implementation, and evaluation of educational technology tools and software to ensure they meet the district's instructional needs.
• Provide leadership and support in the professional development of teachers and staff related to instructional technology use.
• Collaborate with curriculum and instruction teams to align technology integration with academic standards.

3. Infrastructure and Systems Management
• Oversee the management and maintenance of the district's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and telecommunications systems.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of the district's technology infrastructure to support the needs of staff, students, and administration.
• Manage technology-related vendor contracts, including procurement, installation, and ongoing support for all technology equipment and services.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard district data, student records, and network systems.

4. Budget and Resource Management
• Develop and manage the technology department's budget, ensuring effective use of resources to meet district goals.
• Seek and manage grants and other funding opportunities to support technology initiatives in the district.
• Oversee the acquisition, deployment, and maintenance of technology resources, including hardware, software, and digital resources.

5. Data and Systems Administration
• Oversee the implementation and management of the district's data management systems, including student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), and other educational databases.
• Ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of all data and information systems used by the district.
• Provide leadership in analyzing data for decision-making processes related to student achievement, instructional planning, and administrative functions.

6. Leadership and Collaboration
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate technology staff, ensuring professional growth and effective performance.
• Collaborate with district leadership to plan and implement technology-based professional development opportunities for all staff.
• Act as a liaison between the technology department and school district stakeholders, including school administrators, board members, and the community.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Professional certification in technology leadership (e.g., Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) preferred).

Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technology management, preferably in an educational setting.
• Proven experience in leading technology initiatives in a large organization, with an emphasis on instructional technology and infrastructure management.

Skills and Abilities:
• Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team.
• Excellent knowledge of instructional technology tools, data systems, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity protocols.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and implement strategic plans.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, and community members.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion in educational technology access and use.

Working Conditions:
• Office environment with frequent visits to schools and district buildings.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Some evening or weekend work may be required for special events, meetings, or emergencies.
