Our client is a leading propriety trading firm headquartered in Chicago. They are seeking an Operations Specialist to join their middle and back office team. As a key player on their team, you'll take charge of the critical infrastructure that records and reconciles our trades and positions, ensuring their systems run with peak performance and unwavering reliability. You'll engage directly with Traders, Researchers, and Engineers, providing real-time support and solutions. Your work is central to their operations, making a tangible impact on our trading capabilities and directly influencing the firm's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily, intraday, and monthly reconciliations, swiftly resolving any discrepancies.
  • Apply sophisticated scripts and queries to tackle reconciliation challenges on all schedules.
  • Detect and reconcile profit and loss differences to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Master existing systems and proactively implement efficiency improvements.
  • Identify and develop smart automation opportunities, maintaining essential human oversight.
  • Analyze metrics to optimize the effectiveness of back office systems.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Continuously refine systems for simplicity, reliability, and top performance.
  • Develop standardized documentation to ensure consistency and enhance knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Capable of automating and enhancing processes using tools like Excel, VBA, and Scripting, (SQL is a must as you will be tested on this).
  • Experience in balancing, trade reconciliation, or trade settlement.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Skilled at spotting technical and operational issues proactively.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, challenging production environment. (This is a HFT firm)

Compensation: $85k - $110k + 15% Bonus

(This role is not open to sponsorship but open to those looking to move to Chicago)
