Overview:

Responsible for all aspects of the design process from concept to production. The Product Designer will develop and improve manufactured products by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates and develops new products and existing products by studying market trends, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observations from operators.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency for new and existing products by being cognizant of manufacturing costs, raw material yield, labor costs, packaging, warehousing and shipping costs when designing new products.
  • Assembles and tests new products.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product, and establishing standards.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
  • Completes design and development projects by training others as needed.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in product design
  • Must be an avid lifter
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Product Design or similar area of study preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Autodesk Suite experience
  • CAD/CAM experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain seated for 7+ hours
  • Must be able to frequently rise to stand and walk
  • Ability to lift parts and assemble prototypes
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Able to climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to type documents, enter data and grasp/manipulate objects.
