Our Satellite Ground Systems Team is looking to hire aSenior Platform Software Engineer, to be part of a team that pushes the boundaries of what's possible. This team plays a pivotal role in ensuring communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities through cutting-edge satellite systems.

What you will do:

The Platform Software Engineer will work with cloud and API gateway technologies for our Satellite Ground Systems. This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions. Other responsibilities to anticipate may include:

  • Design and implementation of AWS cloud based applications
  • Working with and improving the CI/CD workflow/pipeline
  • Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of their immediate supervisor.
  • Follow established Software processes and procedures, development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.
  • Due to the security clearance requirement, this is an onsite position.
  • Locations: State College - PA, OR Sterling - VA OR Richardson - TX office

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Five (5) years of experience in object-oriented software design and development
  • Experience designing and implementing AWS Cloud based applications encompassing technologies (e.g. VPC, IAM, Elastic LoadBalancing, Auto Scaling, Route 53, KMS, Secrets Manager, ECR, ElastiCache, SQS, SNS, RDS, OpenSearch)
  • Experience with API Gateway (AWS or Broadcom)
  • Experience with DevOps and other technologies (e.g. Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Python, Hiera data, TF Vars, Puppet, Helm, Nexus, Vault)
  • General experience working with source control and CI/CD pipelines (e.g Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Docker, Java, JMeter, Cucumber, Mockito, proxy configurations)
  • Experience with EFK (ElasticSearch/Fluent/Kibana)
  • General AWS experience with EC2, S3, DynamoDB
  • General platform development experience
  • Willing to pursue Security+ certification
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
