Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the organization. The nurse involves protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities through a patient-centered approach. Responsibilities include preventing illness and injury, alleviating suffering via accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, and advocating for patients and their families. The role demands a commitment to ensuring all actions and decisions are aligned with the principles of patient-centered care.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs bed side palliative care of patient/family.
  • Collects and analyzes data to improve palliative care services
  • Anticipates and assists with symptom management, including pain control.
  • Participates in family support, teaching, discharge planning and continuity of care across sites of care, in collaboration with primary care team.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Interdisciplinary Team meetings and Patient/Family Care Conferences.
  • Participates in formal and informal education for all disciplines.
  • Assists in all facets of care coordination for palliative care referrals.
  • Establishes and maintains communication and utilizes educational opportunities with patients and other significant individuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Certification:
  • Registered Nurse | North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement | Prior to start date | HR Primary Sources
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of start date | Learning Management System
  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse | Various Recognize | Preferred
