Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Job Description

At Altru Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team.

  • Role Summary: The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality patient care, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Administer medication and perform procedures within the scope of practice.
    • Provide patient and family education, as well as follow-up care and referrals to other healthcare resources.
    • Collaborate with physicians to verify diagnosis, identify high-risk situations, and take appropriate action.
    • Order and interpret lab studies and diagnostic tests, and notify patients promptly of test results.
    • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, and perform procedures according to education, training, experience, and competencies.

Requirements: We require a minimum of 1 year of related experience, with a strong background in palliative care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of patient-centered care and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Certification and Licensure
  • Nurse Practitioner certification from a recognized accrediting agency.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in North Dakota or a Compact State Agreement.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (preferred).

Work Environment: This is a full-time position that requires occasional driving. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
