Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We're searching for a Software Engineer to join Aurora's Autonomy Software Control team. The Control team is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and verifying the fault-tolerant motion control system of the Aurora Driver with all vehicle platforms.

In this role, you will

  • Work within our control team to develop infrastructure and integrate embedded software with a modern C++ autonomy stack.
  • Interact with autonomy planning and control software, embedded layer software, and vehicle platform commands and monitoring.
  • Develop frameworks for robotics software that is run across multiple hardware devices.
  • Develop software that will directly influence on-road behavior of autonomous vehicles including mode of operation, fault management, and health monitoring.
  • Work with software/hardware interfaces including embedded system simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle system level testing.
  • Build tools to automate testing and analysis of the control subsystem to assist in verification to safety-critical coverage standards.
  • Development in Linux-based environments as well as embedded.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in software development using modern robotics frameworks
  • Proficient in C++ and C code, including experience with embedded applications
  • Knowledge of software architecture design best practices
  • Familiarity with modern communication technologies and networking protocols (CAN, TCP and UDP)
  • Working knowledge of software analysis, linting, and testing tools
Desirable Qualifications (this section is optional)
  • Experience in a regulated, safety critical, or quality managed environment
  • Familiarity with control systems of automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar systems
Team Information
  • The Control team has 16 people
  • The control team is split pretty evenly between the Controls domain experts and software generalists
  • The software generalists work on:
    • System integration
    • Software design
    • Software tooling and infra to run tests and mock out components
    • Automating processes for verification, testing + tooling

The base salary range for this position is $144K - $216K per year. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
