Job Description

The Global Standards Technical Design Manager leads all aspects of global brand technical standards. The role prioritizes activities that support global standardization, quality best practices and drives the implementation of technical product standards to provide a consistent consumer experience when purchasing our products. It will ensure global standard objectives are being met on product developed and manufactured under Nike Apparel, Jerseys, Fanatics Brand and Headwear, inclusive of cascading to our internal teams and/or supplier network.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the Global development process for all stages of Body & Fit Standard Validation in men's, women's, youth & specialty sizing. Establish core consumer standard body measurements, inclusive of Size Guides & nominated Fit Forms. Stay abreast to international size standards and apply across brands as needed.
  • Manage efforts to maintain product fit standards and annual analysis according to current ASTM guidelines and industry standards, considering competition, key retailers and market influence. Conduct conclusive competitor product analysis in comparison to Fanatics standard specs.
  • In conjunction with graded body measurements, standardize Grade Rules & implementation across categories validating standard product grading & sizing. Lead Spec Standard Template establishment and/or updates based on standard updates. Inclusive of but not limited to updates in: PLM database, 3D software, Size, Fit & Product Guides
  • Oversee Core Block Pattern Library and modifications in conjunction with Body & Fit Validation. Maintain appropriate fit block reference libraries and grade table standards, creating global product consistency, reducing sample timelines and fit iterations in the product development cycle.
  • Collaborate to connect a global strategy on all brands, genders, categories and seasons to reach consensus cross-functionally and set an implementation plan when proposed changes are needed.
  • Governance of Product Fit Hierarchy & Guidelines across Product Development, Technical Design & Creative Design.
  • Manage Construction Standards Library (Good-Better-Best), Points of Measurement and How to Measure Guide. Establish Global Technical Design product, process and standards manuals. Consistently reviews process fundamentals to improve and align best practices with Product Integrity.
  • Author, Update & Communicate Vendor Playbook Development Guidelines & Standards internally and externally with Supplier Network. Conduct training as necessary related to relevant updates.
  • Establish and lead Vendor Technical Design Certification Program, inclusive of training, implementation, and monitoring results with cross-functional Tech Design team. Ensure effective results leading to reduced sample iterations, lead-times, streamlined communication and vendor empowerment.
  • Key liaison with Product integrity on Fanatics Branded Commerce Quality Analysis Task Force with quantifying consumer product return insight, data, reviews & conclusions. Use these insights to validate standards continuously. Communicate any standard updates to Commerce when relevant.
  • Active membership in product related boards such as ASTM
Daily Activities & Job Requirements
  • Partner with cross-functional department managers to collaborate on effective and efficient execution
  • Facilitate timely communication with internal and external parties between US office, PCC, suppliers and manufacturers
  • Have advanced technical product knowledge, manufacturing experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team leader with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to influence, manage, motivate and develop others
  • Proficient in product line management (PLM), data bases, pattern software, 3D development and MS Office applications
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to multitask, and punctual in meeting deadlines
  • Willing and able to travel, to foreign and/or remote locations
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong sense of urgency and intuitive sense of priorities & accuracy
