Job Description
Job Title: Clinical Nurse

Job Specialty: Oncology Infusion Center

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days 4x10's (7:30) 5x8 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week

Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience

License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC), ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate

Must-Have: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing

Job Description:
- Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
- Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
- Attend education programs based on identified learning needs.
- Use patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance.
- Assess patient/family/caregivers' readiness to learn, including developmental level and factors affecting learning ability.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revising plans of care.
- Engage in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
- Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrate competence in managing care for patients with complex issues, considering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
- Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
- Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs, consulting appropriate resources in a timely manner for complex cases.
- Develop goals to promote professional growth or address limitations, achieving these within identified time frames or renegotiate with supervisors.
- Participate in promoting cost-effective care and engage in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Give feedback to co-workers and be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Promote a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all.
- Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs.
- Establish relationships with families to advocate for patients and their needs.
- Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update a plan of care using multidisciplinary resources.
- Address cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
- Read journals that may be applicable to practice and bring ideas/questions to staff for assessment.
