Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the CRT provides comprehensive respiratory care to include: basic respiratory care, intensive respiratory care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas, electrocardiograms, and basic pulmonary function testing. The position will be responsible for the care of patients ages:
- To know and understand the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and Respiratory Care Department.
- Verifies and signs all new orders for respiratory care. Assures that all physician orders coincide with current departmental policy.
- Responsible for the recognition, interpretation, and recording of signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, particularly those that require notification of a physician.
- Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-support procedures. Ensures adequate airway management and assist with intubation
- The prevention of contamination and of transfer of infection, through
- Responsible for knowing the mechanics of ventilation and ventilator function.
- Other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
- Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program
- RCP issued by the Texas Medical Board
- CRT issued by the NBRC
- A minimum of 1 year experience in acute care required however new grads will be considered
