Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the CRT provides comprehensive respiratory care to include: basic respiratory care, intensive respiratory care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas, electrocardiograms, and basic pulmonary function testing. The position will be responsible for the care of patients ages:

  1. To know and understand the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and Respiratory Care Department. 
  2. Verifies and signs all new orders for respiratory care. Assures that all physician orders coincide with current departmental policy. 
  3. Responsible for the recognition, interpretation, and recording of signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, particularly those that require notification of a physician. 
  4. Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-support procedures. Ensures adequate airway management and assist with intubation 
  5. The prevention of contamination and of transfer of infection, through 
  6. Responsible for knowing the mechanics of ventilation and ventilator function.
  7. Other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program
  • RCP issued by the Texas Medical Board
  • CRT issued by the NBRC
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in acute care required however new grads will be considered
