Join our team as a Patient Care Pharmacist (PRN/Casual) at Women's Hospital and Methodist Hospital, where you will oversee and ensure safe medication use for patients of all ages, with a focus on NICU and OB populations at Womens. Responsibilities include monitoring drug therapy for appropriateness and interactions, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, and educating patients and families. Proficiency in the Cerner system and medication management technology is essential. Compliance with intravenous compounding policies and adherence to safety and financial metrics are also key aspects of this role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review medication orders and ensure adherence to organizational and evidence-based guidelines, adjusting regimens as needed.
  • Monitor drug therapy for interactions and outcomes, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and participating in patient care rounds.
  • Perform and document medication reconciliation, including discharge medication reviews and education.
  • Ensure compliance with the inpatient drug formulary and conduct thorough medication profile reviews.
  • Coordinate medication preparation and distribution, maintaining safety precautions and monitoring the medication use system.
  • Identify and report adverse drug events, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Supervise and educate pharmacy technicians, interns, and students, providing drug information to healthcare providers and patients.

Schedule:

  • Required to work (1) shift per month. This is a casual/PRN position. Casual/PRN employees work on an as needed' basis to meet the needs of the business. Work days/hours will often vary from week to week.

  • Methodist Hospital- 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE
  • Methodist Women's Hospital- 707 N 190th Plaza, Elkhorn, NE

Salary:

  • Starting pay of $58.10 and increases based on work history/experience

Job Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.

Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with no current drug or alcohol addiction/convictions of any drug-related misdemeanor or felony.
  • Two years of healthcare pharmacy experience preferred.

License/Certifications

  • Current active Pharmacy Licensure (PH) for work state required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency training program and/or certification through a certifying program (Board of Pharmacy Specialties, etc.) preferred.
