About the Team
The Workday Productivity Technology team is dedicated to enhancing the work experiences of over 4000+ customers using Workday to operate their businesses. We achieve this by integrating consumer-friendly paradigms and products into our platform, simplifying the interaction with complex Workday tasks, content, and messaging technologies. This approach enables our users to navigate Workday with ease, even without extensive specific knowledge of the system. As a critical extension of this team, the Gen AI Team is tasked with the conceptualization, design, and delivery of Generative AI-enabled platform experiences. These efforts span across the entire Workday product ecosystem, aiming to further elevate and transform how our customers engage with our software, making every interaction more intuitive.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer for the Workday Generative AI team in Seattle, you will occupy a pivotal role that sets the technical direction of our Generative AI capabilities. You will be instrumental in prototyping and launching innovative products, leading the development of high-performance applications across Workday's ecosystem, and ensuring their seamless integration. Central to our innovation efforts, you will drive the architecture and implementation of new generative AI capabilities for our suite of products, from Human Capital Management to Financials, significantly impacting millions of users globally with innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Set the technical direction for the team to shape the future of Workday's generative AI initiatives.
  • Innovation and Prototyping: Quickly prototype and bring new Generative AI ideas to market, effectively transforming conceptual designs into viable products with exceptional speed and efficiency.
  • Team Mentorship: Mentor a team of dedicated developers, promoting a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative Project Management: Collaborate across functions to define project scopes, aligning technical strategies with broader business objectives to guarantee on-time and successful deliveries.
  • Advocacy for Best Practices: Champion best practices in software engineering, actively contributing to the advancement of our technology stack and the evolution of development methodologies.
Basic Qualifications:

Senior Software Engineer -
  • 6+ years of software development experience with expertise in full-stack development, especially in TypeScript and Python.
  • 6+ years of experience with React front-end development.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, in designing highly available, scalable systems across multiple industries.
  • Enterprise experience in Architecting and deploying systems at large scale.
Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical information to all collaborators clearly and concisely.
  • Experience leading significant front-end projects and creating UI component libraries.
  • Strong interest in performance optimization and understanding code quality metrics.
  • Enthusiastic about mentoring and leading a team through high-stakes projects, with a focus on Generative AI technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, robust testing practices, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
  • Open to 50% flexible-hybrid reporting to our Seattle office.
About You

As the Software Engineer for Workday's Productivity Technology - Gen AI team, you will help build new capabilities impacting Workday's entire range of products from HCM to Financials. You will be part of an initiative to use emerging technologies around Generative AI and large language models to deliver these capabilities. Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $155,400 USD - $233,100 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $140,600 USD - $248,400 USD
