About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Remittance Platform team, you will tackle significant technical challenges, striking a balance between immediate delivery and long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

You will play a crucial role in engineering leadership, contributing to the development and direction of our long-term technical strategy.

As a senior technical authority, you should embody a strong mindset for growth and improvement, with the adaptability to embrace new challenges as the organization evolves.

Your Responsibilities

- Spearhead the design and execution of large-scale, intricate projects that engage multiple teams and systems across Remitly.
- Collaborate with senior management to formulate and propel a long-term technical vision and roadmap for our backend systems.
- Anticipate technical hurdles within the team and lead architectural modifications to overcome them.
- Champion engineering best practices throughout the organization, influencing developers company-wide.
- Mentor junior engineers, aiding in their professional development and career advancement.

Your Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining scalable, resilient services and distributed systems.
- Significant expertise in crafting and implementing technical designs and processes across teams.
- A proven history of delivering features and products to clients.
- Proficient understanding of database fundamentals and experience with various database technologies.
- Expertise in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java or Go.
- Strong capability to mentor and nurture other engineers.
