Factory Planning (Electrical) Engineer - Automotive OEM

Position Details:

  • Location: Plant 1, Engineering Office
  • Shift Schedule: Day Shift
  • Core Working Hours: 7 am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.
  • Weekend Work: As needed based upon special projects and business needs.
  • Weekly Overtime: None.
  • Travel: None

Job overview:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for various assigned projects concerning development, design, construction, and/or installation of electrical systems at MBUSI facilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree.
  • PE License.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling program.
  • German language skills.

Essential skills:

  • Solid understanding of industrial power system protection, control and power monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of national electrical code (NEC) and standard for electrial safety in the workplace (NFPA 70E).
  • Solid understanding of commercial and industrial lighting systems.
  • Solid understanding of facility scope development and costing
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate facilitation and project management skills.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate electrical design and construction of buildings and facilities at MBUSI.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine the simplest, most efficient and cost effective approach to solving engineering tasks.
  • Develop specification, scope of work, and bid dokuments for electrical projects.
  • Assist Purchasing with bidder lists and bid reviews by providing relevant, consolidated data to support the decision-making process.
  • Review, check and inspect vendor designs and electrical plans to ensure adherence quality standards. (50%)
  • Perform necessary fieldwork to gather field data, check tie-ins and provide construction support.
  • Responsiple to coordinate contractor onsite work and provide clear direction regarding MBUSI requirements and standarts as it pertains to facility infrastructure projects. Ensure documentation and CAD standards are followed by contractors.
  • Coordinate with puplic utility providers to provide clear direction related to utility infrastructure projects Develop and track project schedules and costs. (30%)
  • Develop and maintain procedures for all existing building and grounds in collaboration with the Facilities department.
  • Perform lifecycle analysis and develop long-term plans accordingly.
  • Provide environmental support to the Facilities department as required to maintain benchmark status.
  • Lead and control budgets for electrical engineering planning.
  • Coordinate and interface between MBUSI and MB Germany Production Planning. Ensure integration of corporate standards and best practices form Germany into local MBUSI processes and practices.
  • Marginal Funktions: Perform other duties as required. (20%)

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering function in an automotive manufacturing environment.
