Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Vascular Surgery

Office Hours Mon thru Fri 8AM - 4:30PM

Summary/Objective:

Collaborates with the provider to determine the needs of the patient and assists the provider with providing quality medical care to the patients. Assists other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.

Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Interviews patients and measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height.
  • Collect data accurately and ensure that all information, informed consents, and patient images are correctly entered into the patient's medical record in EHR.
  • Scribes for the provider during office visits.
  • Prepares examination and treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Ensures instruments are clean and sterilized.
  • Will be required to prep and assist the provider with numerous surgical procedures.
  • Calls medical facilities or departments to schedule outpatient testing or procedures for admission.
  • Handles pre-certification for admissions and/or procedures or coordinates with pre- certification coordinator.
  • Returns patient calls and places prescription refill calls under the direction of provider of care.
  • Performs EKG's, venipuncture and various in-house laboratory procedures. Acts as a phlebotomist as needed following standard procedures. Completes proper requisition for laboratory processing and charge billing.
  • Recognizes abnormal results upon review of lab and test results. Interacts with provider regarding patient education and follow up regarding results.
  • Assists with health education on the patient's level of understanding.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
  • Accurately complete all pathology and laboratory requisitions as required.
  • Manages Referral process

  • Pre-certification
  • Triage patient phone calls per site's protocol.
  • Process Prescription Refill requests per Physician's protocol.
  • Laboratory testing may include Rapid Tests, Urinalysis, Bilirubin, Auto CBC, and Phlebotomy.
  • Review lab and test results. Provide follow up to the patient per providers instructions.
  • Provide health education and post-op instructions to the patient as needed.
  • Prepares and stocks examination and treatment rooms.
  • Make recommendations for any improvements in the operation of the clinical systems.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Function as relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate and to facilitate co- workers' absence in the office.
  • Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality of all company records, including verbal and written records.
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional or Site Manager.
  • Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
  • Ensures that adequate supplies are always maintained at location.
  • Maintains clean and neat work area.
  • Make recommendations for any improvements in operation of the clinical systems.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Function as relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate and to facilitate co- workers' absence in the office.
  • Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality of all company records, including verbal and written records.
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional or Site Manager.
  • Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of a licensed practical nurse program from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Must have an active LPN license in the State of Tennessee or any other participating compact state.
  • Must have previous clinical and phlebotomy experience.
  • Vascular experience preferred
  • Must be BLS trained and certified.
  • Ability to document in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Must be computer literate.
