Essential Functions

  • Crisis Communications: 30%
    • Supports the corporate crisis communications plan and platform, liaises with media, proactively and reactively in crisis situations.
    • Oversees crisis communications protocol and coordinated media response with key stakeholders including SVP of corporate communications, legal, HR, brand leadership, PR and social media and brand franchisees.
    • Works with brands and operations teams on escalated crisis issues and handles all communications related to a potential, perceived, and realized crisis.
    • Serves as the Single Point of Contact for brands operations teams, for the communications support during a crisis, primarily including reactive media statements, social media responses and communications guidance and media relations initiatives.
    • Consults with SVP of Corporate Communications on elevated crisis issues.
  • Executive Visibility: 20%
    • Works with industry conference and event coordinators to book Focus Brands executives at relevant speaking engagements.
    • Supports executives from start to finish with speaking engagements-book engagement, coordinate prep calls and prepare briefing materials.
    • Identifies proactive and reactive opportunities for executive profiling with trade and business media. Examples include interviews or bylines.
  • Corporate/B2B Media Relations: 40%
    • Serves as primary day-to-day contact for B2B PR agency of record.
    • Works with agency to identify proactive B2B media opportunities for Focus Brands and its affiliate brands.
    • Drafts press releases/media announcements for key corporate initiatives. Examples include new senior personnel announcements and strategic franchisee-facing business news around technology, digital, development, etc.
    • Monitors Press inbox and responds to B2B reactive media inquiries, oftentimes working in close collaboration with consumer PR counterparts.
    • Oversees industry survey and award ranking submissions.
  • Corporate Social Media Channels: 10%
    • Works closely with key stakeholders (HR, Sales and development and brand teams) to provide relevant business updates on the Focus Brands LinkedIn page.
    • Makes strategic content updates to platform to better attract talent and potential franchisees.
  • Support Senior Manager of Corporate Communications with projects and initiatives, as assigned.
Job Summary

The Corporate Public Relations Manager will take an integral role in managing all corporate/B2B, external media relations for Focus Brands. Key responsibilities include crisis communications (both with media and internal stakeholders), executive visibility opportunities for senior leadership, strategic communications for Focus Brands corporate business announcements (both internally and externally), managing Focus Brands corporate social media channels and serving as primary day-to-day contact for B2B PR agency of record.

In addition to being a strong writer and communicator, the ideal candidate has experience with crisis communications, is comfortable engaging with trade and business media in proactive and reactive situations and has a strong executive presence.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public relations, communications, journalism, business, marketing, advertising, or other related field of study (preferred)
  • Advanced Degree and/or accreditation in public relations (preferred)
Work Experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in media/public relations and communications (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of experience in leadership (preferred)
  • Experience in retail, restaurant, food, or beverage (preferred)
Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to think and pitch stories on their feet
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in clear concise language; to demonstrate active listening while engaging others; and to establish, implement, and clearly communicate strategies that align with business needs and objectives to gain buy-in from stakeholder
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships (e.g., senior management, stakeholders, other departments, etc.) and foster an environment of mutual respect, understanding, trust, and support
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of stakeholders (e.g., internal and external customers, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Ability to adapt and adjust planned work through analyzing work demands, competing priorities, and tight deadlines; and to understand the most effective and efficient means to accomplish tasks within the parameters of the organizational structure, processes, systems, and policies
  • Ability to assess situations, provide counsel, and identify solutions that resolve challenges/issues, while considering the best interests of all parties; to develop and implement short and long-term solutions; and to apply effective problem solving and decision-making to address business needs and issues
