Summary: Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech and language problems by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors to determine the educational need for Service.
Plans, directs, and conducts speech and language therapy.
Review individual files to obtain background information before evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
Administers, scores, and interprets specialized speech tests.
Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
Evaluates and monitors individuals.
Develop/Review IEP, and assess individual performance to modify, change, or write goals and objectives.
Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.
Instructs individuals to monitor their speech and provides ways to practice new skills.
Complete online Medicaid submissions.
Acts as a consultant to educational personnel and parents.
Serves as a consultant to classroom teachers to incorporate speech and language development activities into the daily schedule.

Education and /or Experience
1.) Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
2.) Possession of a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
3.) Authorization to provide Speech and Language Services to students with disabilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
1.) Valid certification in Speech Pathology by the State of Michigan.

Compensation/Working Conditions:
Per the GHEA Master Agreement

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile and negotiate.
