Director, Franchise Accounting

Job Summary: Leads, provides guidance, and sets direction for the Franchise Accounting Department within the Global Finance team. Works directly with full franchise owners, providing system knowledge, accounting guidance, financial reporting tools and broad support of the full franchise program. Oversees financial journal entries and GL account reconciliations for the full franchise program within the various North America business units. Builds partnerships with the Franchise Operations group and Business Unit teams to promote and support the full franchise program.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manages store accounting support for all North America full franchises, including providing customer service directly to franchise owners and their teams.
  • Manages full franchise accounting for each of the business units. The franchise accounting team is responsible for billing stores, generating journal entries, and completing account reconciliations.
  • Provides system training for the full franchise program to new Circle K full franchisee owners and store managers.
  • Oversees accounting for Northern Tier Commissaries and Supply Warehouse.
  • Oversees accounting for Northern Tier fuel alliance programs.
  • Oversees the Northern Tier scrip program.
  • Tests upgrades and new functionality for systems supporting the full franchise program and NTBU Commissaries.
  • Manages the annual budgeting process for the franchise accounting department and for Northern Tier franchise operations.
  • Supports the annual renewal of Franchise Disclosure Documents for Holiday franchises and supports the annual audit of TMC Franchise Corporation.
  • Ensures compliance with requirements, policies, and regulations by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies, and governmental regulations, advising management on needed actions.
  • Supports, develops, and guides the franchise accounting team to financial and professional success. Provides leadership to raise both performance and morale. Responsible for staff by recruiting, selecting and orienting employees as well as training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Motivates and sets the tone for a positive work environment within the franchise accounting team, exhibits behavior in accordance with the "Light of Day" policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


Requirements:

Master's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred; or Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with 7 years Accounting/Finance related experience. Other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Five years of experience or more preferred; including a minimum of three years of management responsibility.

Experience with MS Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word preferred.

Experience with PDI Retail Suite preferred.

Physical Demands: Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and use of keyboard and computer. Work requires occasional bending, reaching, and lifting/moving up to 35 pounds. Work is subject to tight deadlines and interruptions can be stressful. Travel to store locations as needed to support new store openings. Current travel requirements are 10% - 15% (five to seven weeks per year). The travel requirement is expected to increase as the full franchise program expands.
