Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer

This position is contingent on contract award (Fall 2025)

Currently is seeking a talented and motivated Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer to join our team focused on supporting a Counter-Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) program to solve tough WMD problems for the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD). This position will be part of a team to reverse engineer facilities and develop new methodologies, tools and products for deliberate planning and crisis operations in support of full dimensional defeat of aboveground and belowground WMD-related hard targets.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Applicant will require a minimum of 5 years in modeling and simulation (M&S). 

  • Have a working knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, turbulence modeling, structural dynamics, fluid-structure interaction, acoustics, chemical reactions, and/or electromagnetics.

  • Must have experience working on Unix-based high-performance computing platforms

  • Must have experience with multi-physics simulation codes such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM, Sierra, CTH, Peridigm

  • Must have experience with geometry manipulation (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Rhino3D) and meshing (ANSYS Meshing, Pointwise, ICEM, Cubit, Capstone)

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicant will be required to produce written technical reports, presentations and give briefings to technical and non-technical personnel. 

Duties to Include but not limited to:

  • Conduct high-fidelity computational modeling on Unix-based high-performance computing clusters.

  • Conduct all needed pre- and post-processing, including geometry creation and manipulation, and meshing.

  • Assemble needed material properties (liquid, gaseous, liquid-vapor mixture, and solid) for simulations, to possibly include chemical properties, such as rates of reactions and thermodynamics properties.

  • High-fidelity simulations may include computational fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, fluid-structure-interaction, composites, fracture and fragmentation, heat transfer, chemical reactions, combustion and detonation, particle flows, evaporation and condensation.

  • Popssibly also build low- and medium-fidelity models of processes and facilities using Matlab/Simulink/Simscape and Python/C/C++.

  • Support System Engineers in conducting system analysis to understand upstream and downstream effects to industrial processes and other utility systems.

  • Support test operations to validate methodologies and tools developed.

  • Travel: Up to 5% travel required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field. 

  • Have a working knowledge of other utility systems (cooling, heating, ventilation, industrial water, wastewater, power, inert gas, compressed/instrument air, hydraulic, and/or fuel systems).

  • Desired experience, but not required:

  • Engineering or utility department for an installation, facility or vessel (i.e. ship’s engine room).

  • Nuclear, power production, data centers, chemical, petrochemical or manufacturing facility(s). 

  • Industrial plant operations and processing operations to include process startup, operations and safety.

  • Required Minimum Active DOD TS/SCI Clearance.

  • US citizenship and ability to pass extensive background checks.

  • Willing and eligible to take polygraph.
