DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Texas Health and Human Services Commission requires the services of 1 Database Administrator 3, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Database Administrator 3, Data/Database Administration and the specifications outlined in this document for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Candidates) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law. Texas Health and Human Services Commission will pay no fees for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a Candidate(s).

This Database Administrator (DBA) 3 contractor position is part of the Administrative Applications Data Services team and is responsible for performing advanced database administration tasks for databases used by applications with complex data models, workflows, and reports. Assists the team in creating and maintaining logical and physical data models. The DBA works on activities including but not limited to database tuning, indexing, customization, data migrations/conversions, installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, user management, security of data at rest and in motion, disaster recovery, clustering for high availability and load balancing, data backup, purging and archiving, implementation of database policies, data replication and backup to secondary sites like disaster recovery environments, procedures for the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the sensitive and business-critical databases. This position requires hands-on experience as an administrator of relational databases like SQL Server or Oracle as well as experience in the management and administration of NoSQL databases like MongoDB in a cloud environment strongly preferred. This position is expected to address high demand and may be required to be on-call rotation, as needed, to complete all projects in a timely manner.
