The Opportunity

Canopy Tax is seeking a highly skilled and experienced BI professional to lead our Business Intelligence function. As a BI Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of data analytics strategies, leading our BI team, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights that support the company's strategic objectives. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable as a player-coach, skilled at navigating between strategy and execution. This position will report directly to our CFO.

This is a hybrid position in South Jordan, Utah (M, W, F in-office).

What You'll Do:
  • Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive BI strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, prioritization, execution, and delivery of BI projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Data Architecture: Design and maintain a robust data architecture that supports efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Ensure the creation of accurate, timely, and insightful reports and dashboards that inform business decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to understand their data needs and provide tailored BI solutions.
  • Data Governance: Implement and enforce data governance and best practices to maintain data integrity, security, and privacy.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance BI processes, tools, and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a small but capable team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analysis and insights.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CBIP, PMP) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker), SQL, data warehousing solutions, and ETL processes. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Interviewing @ Canopy:

  • 20 minute phone call with the People Team
  • 45-60 minute video or in-person interview with the Hiring Manager
  • 1-3 rounds of interviews depending on the role
