POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Respiratory Care Specialist, you will provide safe and effective respiratory therapy as ordered by physicians. You will develop and manage plans of care based on assessments and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to adapt treatment plans. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, and monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, and utilizing a range of respiratory equipment effectively. You will also perform blood gas analyses, interpret results, and document all patient interactions thoroughly.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program; must provide diploma or transcript upon hire.
- Must possess Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care, along with a current State of Connecticut license.
- For candidates with a CRT credential, registry eligibility is required, and the RRT credential should be obtained within 18 months of employment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are preferred.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience in the last two years.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced patient care environment and collaborate with a diverse team.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong focus on customer service with an ability to provide compassionate care to diverse patient populations.
- Proficient in spoken, written, and reading English.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with patients, coworkers, and physicians.
- Accessible transportation for travel between work sites as needed.
