SUMMARY

The Sr Manager - Case Center is the site leader for the Case Center operations, responsible for all operations, supply chain and design responsibilities for the Technical Packaging business handled through the Case Center. This includes overseeing the operational budget, profit and loss performance, sales support, customer service, engineering/design, purchasing, project capability evaluation, manufacturing, shipping, continuous improvement measures and product quality. The Sr. Manager - Case Center is also responsible for partnering with sales focusing on growing overall revenue by leveraging Technical Packaging expertise to get product to market faster. This includes overseeing PelicanFoam.com, Rapid Prototyping and the Quick-to-Market product introduction process.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and sustains an environment of 6S accountability driven by data points and floor-based visible management systems which leads to consistent successful achievement of annual strategic objectives.
  • Plans, coordinates and directs daily manufacturing processes and operations teams in order to meet quality, cost, and delivery goals.
  • Responds with a sense of urgency to successfully deliver short and long-term business opportunities. Collaborates with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, New Product Development, and Quality to create new and profitable product production.
  • Drives and sustains a culture of safety excellence across the facility. Ensures that Pelican's first priority is understood that all employees and quests are safe and injury free. Supports safety initiatives such as ergonomics programs, risk assessments and always challenges the status quo by supporting safe behavior, new and improved work methods and changes in fixturing, tooling and equipment to achieve and sustain low TRIR and LTIR rates.
  • Develops customer/ dealer relationships including discussion of customer needs, evaluation and determination of Pelican capabilities related to potential projects. Provides estimates/quotations, resolution and influence of designs to improve manufacturability. Responsible for resolving customer complaints.
  • Enables new business opportunities through ensuring rapid prototyping from the Case Center
  • Leads the "Born to Run" quick-to-market program for Pelican leveraging Technical Packaging capabilities to launch new product ideas quickly
  • Determines best supply chain solution for technical packaging projects that cross multiple plants to minimize handoffs, optimize quality and reduce overall lead time. Coordinates the project solution with the plants to ensure success.
  • Leads an operating culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with staff at all levels to identify opportunities to improve production times, reduce costs, reduce variances, create a safer work environment, reduce inventory levels, etc.
  • Develops, maintains, and provides visibility to operations budgets, reports actions taken against variances, and executes capital plans for the facility.
  • Ensures that standard operating procedures are developed, executed and updated in accordance with ISO guidelines.
  • Anticipates delays and problems and takes corrective action as indicated to ensure quality products are completed according to schedule. Makes timely and sound business decisions to ensure the Case Center's optimum performance for the regional dealer network.
  • Sources raw material, components and facility equipment as needed.
  • Coaches and develops employees to ensure standardized work is in place and is followed.
  • Manages employee performance to establish expectations, monitors and measures contributions and provides employee feedback, coaching, and instruction as required.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. in Business, Engineering or related field, or equivalent specific experience.
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience driving manufacturing teams.
  • Strong sense of urgency to address issues and take actions to implement changes to improve operational performance and the organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and lead a manufacturing culture built on the standards of Operational Excellence, including Visual Management & Process Controls.
  • A solid grasp on lean manufacturing concepts and demonstrated track record of transforming manufacturing plants through Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and disciplined root cause analysis methods.
  • Proficient Operational financial skills, knowledge of best business practices such as inventory management, and experience in managing the planning and budgeting aspects of the manufacturing process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge related to; MES, SAP, MRP, BOM / ROUTER / STDs / Cost management systems
  • Demonstrated significant accomplishments in the areas of creating successful safety and housekeeping/efficient (6S) cultures at all levels of manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees/customers at all levels. Must be customer centric
  • Proven collaborator with a track record of creating successful business relationships with stakeholders.
  • Must be a self-motivated, proactive, focused high achiever who consistently shows the abilities to facilitate and sustain profitable growth when responding to industry changes.
  • Must have the ability to assess personnel requirements and organize, plan, staff and lead operations; must be able to translate Company objectives into understandable language by staff at all levels, effectively communicate and drive them.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, with final authority for approving pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.
  • Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican's brand and reputation.
  • Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
  • Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
