PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Inventory Control Specialist devises strategies for optimal performance while implementing District policies, Federal, State and local rules and regulations. Oversees the supply flow of product within and between schools. Focuses on monitoring inventory levels and inventory documentation. Provides program support for all Secondary Schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Level: Bachelor's degree required; in lieu of the bachelor's degree a combination of experience and education may be used to meet the bachelor's degree requirement

Preferred: Master's Degree

Experience, Skill and Certification:
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience required. Supervisory experience in a large public school setting a plus.
  • Completion of GaDoe required O.N.E. (Orientation for Nutrition Employees), Manager Pathways, and Culinary Pathways; Valid ServSafe Food Manager Certification.
  • Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or the availability to get to off-site meetings

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Implements the philosophy, policies, and regulations of all Child Nutrition Programs
  • Establishes and implements inventory management process and control.
  • Responsible for assessing staff inventory control performance, within and between school sites and Central Office to ensure the accuracy of services.
  • Gathering and organizing data, maintaining records of transactions and responding to any inquiries or concerns.
  • Studies, interprets and converts intermediate-term project requirements, product availability & capacity into purchasing forecasts and adjustable inventory needs.
  • Assists the SNP Executive Director in planning, developing, and implementing the school nutrition program according to federal. State, and local guidelines.
  • Develops and communicates purchasing policies and procedures to staff.
  • Participates in meetings for purpose of conveying requirements, developing forecasts.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepares reports summarizing process-related information such as stock levels, turnover, inventory overages, expiration dates, and shortages.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with vendors.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of Inventory Management Computer software program.
  • Conducts scheduled school site inspections of onsite inventory storage and handling, and physical inventory counts.
  • Monitor physical inventories/cycle counts/random or receipt audits and reconciliations performed by school site team(s).
  • Plans and prepares end-of-year inventory accumulation to support school site and business calendars.
  • Ensures compliance with all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points [HACCP] on all appropriate documentation, including written recipes.
  • Ensures compliance with all department and District Standard Operating Procedures [SOPs].
  • Estimates and establishes ordering schedules and lead times according to Project schedules, capacity, and specific school needs.
  • Plans and directs the moving of all SCCPSS fixed assets to and from school sites as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the SNP Executive Director
  • Organizational and department planning and operational procedures.
  • Budgeting and spending, labor issues and efficiencies
  • Knowledge of SCCPSS policies and procedures
  • Able to forecast manpower and site needs.
  • Integrates knowledge of inventory control, materials requirement and ordering processes
  • Safety regulations: HAACP, FIFO
  • Ability to train staff in proper inventory control techniques and practices as well as reporting requirements to improve accuracy and integrity.
  • Good knowledge of production process flow and scheduling
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving protocol.
  • Ability to investigate and research inventory discrepancies.
  • Administration and management skills gained through increasingly responsible management positions.
  • The ability to build relational trust through empathy, commitment, compassion, patience, and positivity.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication
  • Preparation of periodic and annual reports for not-for-profit entities.

Terms of Employment

Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. The work calendar will be 229 days.
