Crisis Intervention Specialist

Position Summary: The Crisis Intervention Specialist at Bozeman Health Behavioral Health provides patient-centered, trauma-informed, urgent and emergent behavioral health (mental health and addictions) services in adult and pediatric emergency settings across the health continuum. This position is intended for licensure candidates. Minimum Qualifications: Master degree in Social Work or other comparable program. Licensed clinical candidate in the state of Montana (SWLC, PCLC, MFLC) American Heart Association BLS Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in Crisis Intervention, Psychiatric Emergencies, Safety Planning and/or Level of Care Placement Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements. Key services include but are not limited to: brief psychosocial assessment, brief drug and alcohol assessment, crisis intervention, hold assessment, ED diversion, care coordination and communication with medical team, family, referents, access community-based providers, and transitions of care/ discharge planning. Incumbents in this job provide a variety of key services in guiding the patient through the continuum of care Works both independently and collaboratively as part of a interdisciplinary team. Provides behavioral health consultations by supporting or assisting practitioners, family members and patients. Provides focused, effective and evidence-based interventions. Engages in supervision as required by state licensure. Other duties, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized at Bozeman Health Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines Physical Requirements Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.) Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly. Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies. Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families. Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Exposures Tasks Include Exposure: Job tasks may involve exposure to: bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed. various chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings.
