Job Summary

The Skilled Maintenance Technician III is responsible for carrying out the repair, maintenance and installation of all machinery, mechanical equipment and physical building involved in the overall operations of Kentucky Performing Arts as directed by the Chief Engineer.

Hourly Rate: $32-35

Essential Duties
  • Upholds a program of preventive maintenance, including troubleshooting, lubricating and cleaning all equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drills, and various hand tools to perform repair and maintenance work. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and proper working condition.
  • Prepares the various theaters and support spaces for upcoming events.
  • Cleans, vacuums, mops etc. all areas after work has been performed so as to maintain building cleanliness.
  • Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures with applicable federal, state, and local codes/requirements.
  • Perform a variety of skilled work in maintenance and repair. Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate the work assigned to accomplish a variety of duties related to building trades.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and materials. Operate light truck to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies.
  • Perform various refrigeration, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical related duties.
  • Plans jobs, make sketches and see that necessary materials are ordered for each job.
  • Follows proper techniques in servicing, repairing and/or installing machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and the Fire Crew.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):
  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge to work with and automated HVAC systems equipment required
  • Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance. General knowledge of electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, and locksmithing
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate well both inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to lift approximately (25 - 50) pounds unassisted using appropriate lifting techniques and/or devices
  • Must be able to work long, irregular hours and weekends as dictated by event schedules and projects. The ability to work independently with little direction
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
  • The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time, as well as stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch
  • Above average skills in reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trade School specialized training preferred (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical)
