Electrical Service Sr. Project Manager

Summary Description

Responsible for overall administration, organization and implementation of complex electrical service projects. Ensures overall safety, efficiency and profitability standards are being maintained within the electrical service team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential:

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the company
  • Serves as a mentor and leader within the electrical service team to all direct and indirect service personnel.
  • Prepares cost estimates as needed and coordinates closely with estimating department on the review of larger estimates and proposals prior to submission.
  • Meets with potential customers and/or representatives to review and/or define project scope.
  • Presents completed proposals to customers, as needed.
  • Assigns project supervisors or electrical service technicians, as needed.
  • Works closely with manpower team ensuring we have the correct teams assigned to all service projects.
  • Coordinates with purchasing team the acquisition of service-related materials.
  • Coordinates tool and equipment requirements with warehouse supervisor.
  • Ensures all permits, licenses, and inspection filings are completed, as needed.
  • Attends all service-related job meetings as needed and performs routine site visits among our constant presence sites.
  • Monitors overall project costs ensuring projects are completed profitably.
  • Ensures our cash flow stays positive and captures all necessary monthly billings.
  • Manages change orders timely and ensures prompt preparation and authorization of all pending changes.
  • Assists corporate accounting as needed with service-related accounts receivable.
  • Assists with general business development activities and helps to grow the service business.
  • Conducts timely and accurate performance appraisals on all assigned personnel.
  • Communicates openly and ensures customer service measures are being maintained.
  • Works closely with service administrator ensuring process flow remains smooth and consistent.
Job Requirements

Skills/Education:
  • High school diploma with additional of two (2) years of post-high school education related to the electrical trade.
  • Minimum of six years as a Project Manager within the electrical construction and/or service industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to estimate electrical construction projects using Accubid or other estimating software programs.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people.
  • Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions.
  • Excellent verbal communication, written and human relations skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical trade and applicable electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to deal with, other construction trades.
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Working a minimum of 40+ hours/week shifts.
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 50 lbs.; frequently 0 to 35 lbs. and infrequently above 35 lbs.; sizes and shapes of objects vary from conduit to large panel covers.
  • Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder.
  • Repetitive use of hands includes keyboarding, occasional grasping of hand tools and fine motor coordination for electrical installations.
  • Vision adequate for daily and consistent computer use and reading.
  • Balance adequate for occasional climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
  • Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0F to 100F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
