The Floater is responsible for directly supporting the Individual to meet their outcomes within the home and community setting. This position represents Impact Community Services in various external settings and directly influences the public's perception of the organization. This title has the responsibility of acting as back-up staff in the case of DSP needing extra support and providing administrative assistance to the Management Team (when needed).

Essential Job Functions*

  • Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, in a residential setting to ensure outcomes are being met.
  • Provide assistance with ADL's and support daily activities including but not limited to household chores, meal preparation, recreational activities, learning activities, and physical fitness activities.
  • Accompany individuals on routine errands; provide assistance as needed in accomplishing tasks.
  • Represent the needs, wants, and interest of individuals served or supported by the program.
  • Provide input and make recommendations on program planning for individuals.
  • Complete all documentation (care and incident) in accordance with policies and procedures, and all pertinent laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with other staff, families, and the general public.
  • Attend trainings required for DSP and residential setting care
  • Periodic on-call availability for any situation that may occur at Impact Community Services to include, but not limited to: Crisis Emergencies, Employee Sickness, Vacations, Terminations, Emergency Preparedness Objectives, etc.
  • General clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, and scanning.

Possess strong observation skills, demonstrate good oral and written communication, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, the community, and staff. Display ability to analyze findings, identify problems and formulate solutions; knowledge of Intellectual disabilities and related physical, health, and behavioral concerns; possess caring and positive attitude; experience in conducting comprehensive assessment and knowledge of documentation tools. This position requires the successful completion of training/certification in CPR, first aid, behavior management, medication administration. Floater must successfully complete criminal history and central registry background investigations.

Minimum Qualification Standards

  • A high school graduate or GED, have demonstrated at least one (1) year of paid experience providing direction, development and implementation, direct supervision and monitoring (observation and evaluation of staff implementing care, service plans & interacting with clients) to the service provided.
  • Must possess a valid VA Driver's License and proof of insurance.

    Impact Community Services, LLC employees and/or contractors will:

    1. Become familiar with these regulations, comply with them in all respects, and help individuals understand and assert their rights,
    2. Protect individuals from any form of abuse, neglect and exploitation (i) by not abusing, neglecting or exploiting any individual; (ii) by not permitting or condoning anyone else to abuse, neglect, or exploit any individual; and (iii) by reporting all suspected abuse to the program director.
    3. Protecting individuals receiving services from abuse also includes using the minimum force necessary to restrain an individual.
    4. Cooperates with any investigation, meeting, hearing, or appeal held under these regulations. Cooperation includes, but not limited to, giving statements or sworn testimony.
    5. Perform any other duties required under these regulations.

This position requires the successful completion of training/certification in CPR, first aid, behavior management, medication administration, and the successful completion of criminal history and central registry background investigations.
