RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Hospital Services Coordinator, the Distribution Assistant will be responsible for handling blood component requests, packaging, and safe transportation of blood products to ensure they are delivered safely and efficiently for patient use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Accept and Prepare Orders: Timely acceptance, preparation, and transportation of blood and component orders following SCBC’s SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Client Relations: Foster positive relationships with hospital clients and SCBC staff.
  • Flexible Schedule: Pick up donor blood from blood drives and SCBC fixed sites, including on-call coverage.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional appearance and conduct that aligns with SCBC standards.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with team members across departments to deliver high-quality service to donors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting or as delivery personnel with a track record of reliability.
  • Skills:
    • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Reliability and punctuality.
    • Basic computer proficiency.
    • Adaptability and teamwork capabilities.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license with insurance and a satisfactory driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and engage in lifting activities (up to 60 pounds).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Primarily within a laboratory setting with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The role involves moderate to high-stress levels and frequent interruptions.
