Job Description

  1. Assessment, evaluation and triage of patients with behavioral health care needs presenting to the Emergency Department.
  2. Serves as a member of a psychiatric resource team providing assessments, crisis intervention, debriefings, grief counseling, and consultation.
  3.  Provides referral services throughout designated hospital units.
  4. Serves as a nursing consultant for patients on the medical detoxification critical pathway on designated hospital units.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge and fundamental skills necessary to organize, prioritize and delivery age specific care in a safe and appropriate environment.
  6. Provides supportive care to families of patients in crisis or at time of death as needed throughout designated hospital units.
  7. Is self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through on projects.
  8. Seeks and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.
  9. Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing in interactions with patients and families and with colleagues.
  10. Serves as coach and mentor for less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker- Certified OR
  • Licensed Certified Nurse Clinical Specialist OR
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor OR
  • RN that meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland 
  • 3 years of direct Behavioral Health patient care experience required.
