New York, United States Coinbase Careers Page Full time

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you're capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It's a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform - and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we're seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company's hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn't for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there's no better place to be.

This is a 12-week internship during summer 2025.

Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated Credit Risk Intern to support our Credit Risk team. You will help manage complex credit risks across a global client base, in a dynamic digital asset market environment. Working closely with risk professionals and product teams, your responsibilities will include underwriting counterparties, evaluating cryptocurrency asset risks, monitoring and reporting exposures, and contributing to thought leadership to deliver lending and trading solutions. This role will be based in New York.

What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Perform diligence and underwrite clients and counterparties, for example hedge funds, asset managers, corporates, market makers and banking and payment providers.
  • Recommend internal credit ratings and risk-based limits, and prepare written analysis substantiating your assessment.
  • Conduct continuous surveillance of trading and bank partners, along with periodic portfolio reviews.
  • Analyze asset volatility and liquidity risks on a per-asset and portfolio basis.
  • Provide recurring monitoring of client activity, market developments, and portfolio concentrations and clearly communicate trends to leadership.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (product teams, sales teams, operations, legal, etc.) to resolve client or product challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements to continuously expand your knowledge and expertise.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
  • Interest in, and basic understanding of, financial and capital markets.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and investigative skills.
  • Excellent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel or spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization; enjoy operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Nice to haves:
  • Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with analyzing financial statements.
  • Basic knowledge of the crypto economy, or a desire to learn.
