Medical Biller

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying patient information, assigning accurate medical codes, and submitting claims to insurance companies in a timely manner. Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in contract understanding, fee schedule application, insurance verification, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Verify patient information, insurance details, and confirm coverage.
  • Assign accurate medical codes and ensure compliance with reimbursement rates.
  • Submit claims to insurance companies with precision and adhere to fee schedules.
  • Thoroughly understand and review contracts with healthcare providers and insurers.
  • Familiarize with fee schedules, ensuring accurate application to billed procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to address queries and discrepancies.
  • Ensure billing practices align with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor changes in contracts and update billing procedures accordingly.
  • Handle appeals for denied claims when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing training to staff on contract-related procedures and fee schedule updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills
  • High school diploma or GED required, BA degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of medical coding experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare privacy laws and compliance regulations.
  • Proficient in Excel, PivotTables, Power BI.
  • Experience retrieving electronic remittances from third-party clearing houses.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
Working Environment / Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds


Pay range

$22-$32 USD
