MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience, and Training Must be a graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program and possess valid Iowa EMT certification. Must possess valid Iowa Chauffeur’s License and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record. Previous experience as an EMT preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of emergency care equipment, vehicle operation and maintenance, and advanced EMT-P procedures. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English. Physical Requirements Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift. Standing– Approximately 50% of shift. Walking – Approximately 50% of shift. Lifting – Approximately 50 pounds. Must use, and require others to use, when in hospital and/or pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices. Twisting – Infrequent. Bending – Moderate. Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position without compromising patient care or satisfaction.
