Veterinary Technician

THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of the Specialty Anesthesia Technician is to provide anesthesia support for the surgeon you are assigned to in the surgery department. When not performing anesthesia for your assigned surgeon you will assist the other surgeons in the surgery department as well as the anesthesia service.
You will practice the highest quality of anesthetic monitoring care for the patients of the MSPCA and work in conjunction with a team of doctors, technicians and visitors maintaining a positive enthusiastic attitude in this fast paced team oriented environment.
You must be reliable, independent, be able to multitask and excel in interpersonal communication skills.
Some Responsibilities Include:
- Perform all anesthesia cases for your assigned surgeon with guidance from the anesthesiologists.
- Utilize technical and clinical knowledge learned in order to effectively assess, monitor and stabilize all surgical cases.
- Demonstrate and model advanced anesthesia skills.
- Communicating and working closely with all staff members and visitors.
- Assist in the training process for new and current employees.
- Able to stoop, bend, kneel and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to move patients weighing to 22 kgs repeatedly. Over 22 kgs with assistance.

With 2 board certified anesthesiologist, 4 board certified surgeons and 3 resident surgeons, 7 surgical suites, state-of the art monitoring and surgical equipment, this position is perfect for the certified technician who wants to be working in an innovative and challenging environment working alongside the best veterinary doctors in the country.

We are looking for applicants with at least 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience in an anesthesia exclusive environment. Certified Veterinary Technician, CVT required for a technician role.
